Before I get started … grab a cuppa coffee, put your feet up and get comfy!

A little background info …

– I was born in my beautiful hometown of, Amman-Jordan. My parents, siblings and I moved to the States in 2000; it was a complete culture shock at first but as each year passed, it felt more and more like home. In 2009 I left Islam, and only by His grace alone, Jesus captured my heart fully and completely. My life is forever changed because of His love and grace!

– I am a wife to a wonderful man, Marc. He is my best friend, my confidant and the only person I know that can make me laugh until my belly really hurts. I just adore him!

– In the fall of 2001, I became extremely ill with Lyme Disease/Co-infections. I had no choice but to drop out of school and quit my job at that time. It definitely turned our lives upside down at first, but it brought me to my knees, face down, and in full surrender to Him! The Lord has healed me in many ways since then, and I can finally say, although it’s been a very slow progress, that I am on my way back to health. I still struggle with symptoms everyday but they are no where as near as they were back then. And I am actually back to work now, I never though I would be able to work again because of how bad my health was (Ephesians 3:20) … only God, only God! I always say, what the enemy meant for harm God meant for good – my relationship with Christ has grown tremendously since I became ill, and my love for Him as grown in ways I never thought were possible – so for that, I bow my head in thankfulness because of the good that has come out of this difficult and very challenging situation!

I am very fortunate to have an amazing husband, family and friends that have been so incredibly supportive in every way throughout this crazy season in my life …. I will forever be grateful for them!

Why Rooted in Salt?

My family in Jordan came from a very ancient town called Salt. At one point it was the capital of Jordan, but after World War I the fortunes and status of the town declined quite a bit, and that is when the Hashemite’s (royal family of Jordan) decided to make Amman the new capital. A little history there for ya!

They say the tombs of Job, Jethro, and the sons of Jacob are in Salt. It would be neat to see if I was related to any of them one day!!

Are you still there? oh good! I hope I didn’t bore you with all the Middle Eastern histroy haha! So there ya have it … a little information about who I am, where I came from and why I chose Rooted in Salt!

I created this little cozy place of mine to share my faith (Jesus pulled me out of extreme darkness and into His everlasting radiating light), talk about Lyme Disease (because we need more awareness on this awful illness), share yummy healthy recipes, a little fashion here and there, and just the ups and downs of this thing called life. I hope you are as comfortable here as I am and I am so excited for us to get to know one another 🙂

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.” Matthew 5:13

Aisha, this is beautifully written! I know multiple people that also live with Lymes. I hope you post some of the things you have tried with trials and successes. I can’t wait to read more, this is such a fascinating topic. You are such a positive person, love reading your positive facebook posts too. And we always have Tom Hardy to daydream about. Hope all is well, sam

    Aisha,

What a wonderful life and story you have. It’s a little rocky right now, but keep your eyes on Him!!! Have you ever considered trying high doses of oxygen. The research I have seen says it is lethal to the lyme and provides energy to the cell so the antibiotics work better. I pray that God will heal you and use you to do great things!!

      Hi Kent,
Thank you so much for your kind words!! My eyes will always be on Him! 🙂
I have heard of oxygen therapy, but never tried it! I want to look into it a little more now. I’ve heard many success stories with using oxygen therapy!
      Blessings to you!

You are right. My mom had Lyme disease. Only we lived on a farm so it was probably a lot easier to get it.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your story! How long did it take for you to get diagnosed with lyme?

    • Aisha

      Hi there!!

About 4 months! But, I didn’t get treated properly until 6 months after all my symptoms started!!

      • rominalifehappens

Same like me. 4 months, and didn’t get treated about 6 months into it. Still fighting babesia and lyme as well.
